Meet GABRIEL GOAR – Owner
Gabriel always wanted to start a company since he was a young child, after working as the maintenance man at his church for 4 years he literally woke up one day and said, “I am going to start a painting company.” He didn’t have any experience in the painting world, nor had he ever worked for a painting company before. He saved up enough money to lock himself in a room for 7 days and he checked out all the DVD’s and books he could on how to paint. Gabriel emerged out of his “cave” 7 days later with all the knowledge he needed to at least get started. He sold his car to purchase business insurance and 2 gracious men at the church gave Gabriel a truck and a paint sprayer to help run the business. That was the birth of The Painter, Inc. on January 6, 2006. Little did he know in 17 short years the business would have grown to be the largest Residential Painting Company in the Hampton Roads area.
Meet DANIEL JETER –
General Manager
Daniel was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He moved to Virginia Beach in 2005 where he lives with his wife and daughter. Daniel worked for Sherwin Williams Paint Company from 2001 – 2015. He went from being a Store Manager of several different stores to being promoted to the Training Manager for this area. Daniel was chosen out of many candidates to be the Manager of the store, where the employees were trained how to properly accomplish the company’s goals and procedures. This in turn gave him the people and management skills that has made him invaluable to The Painter, Inc. After being a Training Manager for several years, he was then promoted to a Sales Representative where he serviced over 400 accounts. He joined our team in August of 2015. Daniel is in charge of quality control for the company and ensuring that every client is completely satisfied and loves their paint job.
Meet DAVE PORTER –
Southside Service Manager
Dave is a native of the Eastern Shore, but has moved to Currituck where he lives with his wife and children. He has been painting for over 30 years and has been a great asset to The Painter, Inc. His knowledge of how to properly run a job and complete it in a timely manner sets him apart from the rest. You will no doubt have a first class paint job when he is finished with your home. We are grateful to have him on our team.
Meet IVAN ULLOA – Estimator
Ivan holds an interior decorator certificate from Ashworth University and an interior designer certificate from Queens Community College, New York. Ivan owned his own painting corporation in the city of New York from 1989 through 2013. In February 2014, he moved to Honduras to reunite with his family to help his wife raise their newborn and twin girls. While living in Honduras, Ivan started a small construction business by buying land, designing, and building houses with the finest finishes in town. Ivan joined The Painter of Virginia, Inc. in January 2021 when COVID made him realized it was time to come back home. He wanted a place where he and his wife could continue to raise their children in a safe and Christian environment. Hampton Roads, Virginia was and continues to be the perfect place. His ample background embraces not only fine finishing experience (interior/exterior), but also overall construction standards at the highest levels. Ivan firmly believes that the golden rule can change his own world and the world of those who encounter his. His motto is clients first, crew second, company third, Ivan last. He ensures his clients absolutely love the experience of working with The Painter, Inc.
Meet CODY –
Foreman
Cody started his career as a painter 14 years ago. He has a vast experience in custom residential repainting and commercial painting, along with many other areas inside the trade. He prides himself with his efficient and clean work, and most of all—superb customer service.
Our Story
The Painter, Inc. is not a franchise, but is family owned and operated by Gabriel and Brooke Goar. Gabriel started the company in January of 2006 with a truck that was given to him and a few paint brushes. Through hard work, long hours, dedication to strong client satisfaction and the Grace of God we have gotten where we are today.
We serve the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Suffolk areas on a daily basis and look forward to adding you to our ever growing list of satisfied clients.
